Freiburg Exhibition Centre

Competition, 1st Prize, 1997 - 2000

The construction of the new exhibition centre in Freiburg became necessary following the decision of Freiburg City to enlarge the exhibition centre and move it from its old location to the edge of the Freiburg Airport. The new group of buildings in the first phase of construction comprises three exhibition halls. The entire length of the protruding foyer offers a broad view onto the airport, the city of Freiburg, the Black Forest, Kaiserstuhl Mountain and the Vogesen forest. Galleries, bridges and inserted wooden cubes provide exciting partitions to enliven the entrance area over its length of 150m.
